sky detail
I have Elements 5 and am a beginner. I would love some guidance on how to bring out the detail in the sky (clouds) ... really stumped on how to do this.
Thankyou in advance!

Hi Again,
Again Duplicate your layer. Then change the layer blending mode of the duplicate. Just mess about for awhile. Use the Dodge and Burn tools as well. Good luck and practice.

Hi xpl,
Once again, thankyou!
I'll experiment - haven't used the dodge and burn tools before, so will (timidly!) give them a 'whirl' .....

hi Lenita - i find just fiddling with levels and curves makes a big difference. also tweaking shadow and highlight with the all the options available in that box helps a lot too. i also managed to learn a fair bit from the dvd's you get with the photography magazines (should imagine they are available down under. good luck

Now you're going to be in for a treat. Go to the following link:
Photoshop Tutorials videos
Scoll down until you see Darken the Sky. This is all you'll ever need to get the detail out.
I met the guy that did these tutorials and there is nothing he doesn't know about Photoshop. I've not used elements 5 but you may still be able to use some of these techniques.

Thankyou! Can't wait to find the time to experiment.
Paul,
Thankyou for the link - I have bookmarked it and will be devouring the tutorials as and when I find opportunities to do so ..... (you still haven't solved my time issue for me .... LOL)!
