Photoshop/Elements/Corel.. I'm confused
Now I am ready to buy my first digital dslr I am going to be needing a software package. At the moment I have only the free picasa 2. It's fine for general tidying but I'd like to do more with the shots I take.
So as the title says, which one?

I would recommend that you stay with a Photoshop program like Elements or CS3. Although other editing software programs are available Photoshop is far the most widely used.

had paintshop pro latest version but as so many magazines e.t.c dont seem to support it switched to latest version of photoshop elements 6 (i cant justify full photoshop as a hobby photographer) but you can various add-ins for elements to add curves capability and masking e.t.c but i find it is very good anyway. It comes in this version with full catalogue capability and smart tags, also can do panoramas as well
If you shoot raw Lightroom has a very good reputation but you cant clone and stuff with it. its just a very powerful cataloguing and for adjustments to raw files. it is good for printing and web as well but tends not to be too flexible with jpegs. also its about £200 a lot if you want more flexibility. it is great for batch processing of files.
Hope this helps.

Hi Anne
Elements seems to be the easiest and least expensive option. CS3 is amazing as is lightroom but really pricey if you cant recoup your costs thro your work.

Thanks for your responses.
Looks like Elements is the way to go for me as it will give me so much more than I have already and I really don't want to be spending an absolute fortune either
