HDR images
Have been using Photomatix Pro for a few weeks now and can recommend it.Not every shot lends itself to hdr but many do and the results have been pleasing to me but then I'm still learning-big time. The program is easy to use once you've done a few and there's a good range of paramiters to play with.
Any views on when to sharpen?...each shot to be combined,or after final hdr output?

Hiya Kenny
Its always best to leave the sharpening to the very end once you have finished your work and are ready for the final save. Sharpening before hand (especially with HDR) could be enhanced greately and spoil your image.
I use both PhotoMatix and Dynamic Photo and both a great little stand-alone programs. Both have pros-and-cons, but work well.

Sharpening is always a contentious issue among Photoshop users, me I do a little capture sharpening then output sharpening after all the work is done, both are done using Photokit Sharpener

I've noticed on this and various other image sites HDR. I understand the concept a little but have never tried my hand as yet. couple of things
whats a good easy subject/scene to start with? and does anyone recommend using other software over and above cs2 for doing HDR work?
i noticed a few brands in the posts above are any available on a 30day trial basis?
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy
Maybe try some old ruined building that has some definition in the sky and shows the shadows a little on the brickwork. Or try and indoor shot (tripod mounted without using flash) ie inside a church or something.
Software wise, both photomatix and dynamic photo are on a Try before you Buy basis. There are probably more on the market now, but I think these two are the most popular.
Cheers for now

I like photomatix too,you can trail first. Some bw conversions come out ok with good blacks through to whites...a bit punchier than I normally manage.Try it,have fun.
