Ogof Pasg Slab
Photographers Comments
This was taken a few weeks ago, the caver is my wife as she negotiates the slab which is a very tight squeeze for about 6 feet and where I have to take my helmet off as it keeps getting jammed, you also have to breath in before attempting this manoeuvre and not breath back out until through. This section is about 3/4 of the way through this cave system, so if you cant get through then you have to return the way that you came in. All good fun.

first off I would like to say sod that!!!!
Then on a serious note, what a fantastic illustration of how completely nuts you guys are. Claustrophobia is a word that springs to mind and i feel i must leap up out of my chair to rid this feeling of smothering I am getting from this image!!
Its so nicely lit and well framed under the circumstances. How on earth your missus has managed a grin is beyond me.
Nice image...would not change a thing...now off to the psycho ward, the pair of you

Cheers for your comments, I know that this sport is not for all - that is one of the attractions of it. We cavers are a close knit community where we must have complete trust in your fellow cavers within the group. This is because we are all good at something like getting through small gaps, climbing, diving or using ropes. So whoever is the strongest always takes the lead at that particular obstacle and makes sure that everyone gets through.
As for lighting on this shot, my wife had to get through this gap about four times, because the lighting was a nightmare as the gap is so tight and the rock so shiny, I kept burning parts of the image out with the flash. In the end I had to point the flashgun in the opposite direction and bounce the light back. Being careful not to light up to much of the image.

Like the lighting and composition, would have been nice to have seen the eyes, but given the circumstances GREAT shot.
I will not be caving with you either, as I have got to change my pants

Not my cup of tea this caving lark but it does get you some really unusual and unique family portraits. Really good picture, very clear and focussed.
Cheers
