They look a bit underexposed to me Len.
Maybe the light reflecting off the water confused the meter?
A bit of exposure compensation would have sorted it out, I usually shoot a couple of test shots and look at the histograms and highlight warning to set it for each scene, then just keep an eye on it whenever there is time between shots.

Hi Len
You have a good eye for the shot, however they look a little out
of focus and a little underexposed. Dont be disheartened tho.
Try out loads of camera settings until you feel comfortable with it.
