Default Superbikes - Stuart Easton

Photographers Comments
Stuart "Rat Boy" Easton taken in May at the British Superbikes at Oulton Park. The Hydrex Honda bikes are among the most photogenic in this years championship.

A panning shot taken at 1/320 sec in Shutter Priority mode.

Of the 2 you've posted I prefer this one, they're both very good. Good panning technique and sharpness.
I just think the light has been better to you in this one, despite being harsh it's helped pick out the fine detail in the bike and rider.
I've never shot bikes only cars, it seems bike racers go more crazy on colour, looks good in photo's.

Thanks for taking the time to look guys, and thanks for the nice comments..

Andy, of course, I thought this was a good shot but then I think that of a lot of my shots and other people can still suggest how to improve them.

You're right about the highlights, I rescued what I could in lightroom but some of it's just not there. A very shiney bike and a very sunny day took its toll. If I'd been expecting good weather I'd have taken a polarising filter - but it was back home in my other camera bag.

cheers

Daniel

Brilliant!
I'm hoping to go to the Moto GP at Donnington but its not a great track to get close enough for great shots like this!

Zoë - thanks for the comments. Donington's not a bad circuit for photography (and an excellent circuit for bikes). You need to pick your spot, I like to be near the Foggy Esses, from there you get a good view of the race and some opportunities for photography. You can get some decent shots near Starkey's Bridge and from the inside of Macleans as well (although I think Macleans is out of bounds just now). A 300mm or 400mm lens is required for all these locations though.

It's worth going to the smaller events like BSB as you get better access, you can stand in the paddock and get great shots of the end of the Melbourne hairpin.

I've put a couple of images from Donington in my gallery (below) and there're loads on my site if you're interested.

These shots are excellent, colourful, sharp and with good detail. We will look forward to seeing more like this from you. I ride the muddy variety of bikes.
