Couldnt seem to get the panning right, this is my Mondeo shot, but not very blurry, he was doing about 100mph honest! Perhaps the Sony A700 was too quick for him!

1/2000 is way to fast for blurry panning shots, did you experiment with the shutter speed pipe?

Mate not my forte, too fast too slow! Will go and have another go though, not really tried before and just getting in the frame was a challenge. this was probably the nearest i got to panning.

It was, free access all areas and no crowds, going to the 6hr endurance in sept, merv cant come (wimp) you can if you want going on the sunday. le mans cars 1000km race lots of overtaking. Love motorsport just never shot it.

No last weekend was wander where you want but it wasnt free, (meant free access all areas) it was a club event so cheap (£10) the 1000km is a big event, next to Le Mans one of the biggest my ticket is paid for by my son as a Birthday pressie but i think its £20 for the day. (Sunday) you could come down to West Brom and we could double up. Its an early start though. There are many classes so overtaking is prevalent and its piggin noisy! Next to F1 they are the quickest about 190mph down the straight but dont corner so quick as F1.

You know odd race isn't the official term!
The car was in focus when you pressed the shutter, that's a start mate, in the right place in the frame too. I didn't know what settings you were using.

I'm just wondering if you were being too critical, when I'm panning I delete LOTS. You have plenty of memory and battery power, so pan loads and be ruthless!

Hi Dennyboy,

I really like your shot, I find your front 3/4 composition more interesting than my shot of the same car. Also like the way that the car is positioned left of frame, giving it 'somewhere to go' in the shot. Agree with Merv, the shot is well focussed and exposed.

OK you havent got the 'panning blur' but there isn't any rule that says you must have it?? Agree with Cannockwolf, just slower shutter speed needed to achieve that result.

PS: I'm going to the 1000km at Silverstone with the same mate you saw me with on Saturday. Might see you up there.
