Default GP2 Silverstone British GP 2009 Race 1

Photographers Comments
Went to the opposite side of the track. Catch fence surrounded us, Maggots and Becketts complex.
So I went for some extreme panning to try and get rid of the fence, still probably lost contrast though.

Straight from cam again, 1st one cropped.

Nice shots Merv, have tried this myself over the years and these things are really shifting. Going to the Le Mans series 1000km in September at Silverstone.

Excellent panning technique, were you using a monopod or hand held. You have got the car spot on, being able to read the writing whilst still having movement in the wheels and background also good colours. You must be pleased with this shot.

Thanks Dennis. Sounds interesting, who are you going with?
I have found out these events are good for researching good spots...

Hand held, carrying gear is a right pain round Silverstone so I tried to keep it to a minimum.
Happy with how my panning has improved over the weekend, not happy about the lack of good spots I found.

Hi Mate, its september 13th and its a Birthday pressie from my lad so we are both going, you can tag along but its an early start (8am) i am led to believe. less people there, free grandstand seating and it £20 for the Sunday. Been to Le Mans a couple of times as well, like this series because there are lots of classes and overtaking going on all the time.

Great shots Merv! You must be pleased with them. Great sharpness in the text on the car and then lovely blurring of the wheels and background. Really like them. I'm thinking about going to the WSB (world super bikes) at Donnington on sunday but havent decided yet! Hope you had a great day at Silverstone!

Great shots Merv, really like the one of Fernando Alonso's car with the flames coming out the back. Looks like you had a great time.

Great weekend mate.
Trying to get back into the forums, but I'm shattered and can't think or type very well lol.
About half of the GP2 cars were spitting flames off throttle, the no.7 car especially, it's not Alonso though.

This is Alonso from the same spot.
