Default Friday has come early! Does anything look different?

I simply couldn't wait any longer, and when your reading this and you're a member at the time of me posting this then you will have noticed we have a completely new look.

To keep the tradition, I'm releasing this as a beta until I've polished off the edges and fixed anything people find not working.

Everything will remain quite familiar but apart from the look you will notice the new navigation. A few members have already been using this style for a while and I've had good feedback on the new navigation. It takes a little getting used to but when you get used to it you'll soon realise how easy navigating the site becomes and will be asking why we didn't have it sooner.

I've still a lot of work re-writing all previous announcements that have screen shots of the previous look but I'll be plowing through those slowly.

Why the new change?
There are a number of reasons.
  1. The previous navigation didn't give me much room to add extra links when new features were introduced.
  2. The previous big splash of green and orange was a little distracting especially for a photography site. The new style uses predominantly neutral grey's to compliment all image viewing and is easier on the eye.
  3. I want to attract a wider audience of photographers. We have a wonderful community of really great and friendly members and a more professionally presented site will attract more experienced photographers so there will be a lot more people with additional skills to help everyone else out but still keeping the friendly atmosphere everyone is used to.
  4. Attracting a wider audience means companies will look to sponsor or advertise on the site. This means more prizes can be offered in competitions to make everything more exciting.
There's more.......
I will soon be able to offer all members 20% off the online price of a reputable UK canvas print company and this offer is a permanent offer with no deadlines. I will soon be in negotiations with this company to look at the possibility of competition sponsorship so a winning entry will find it's way onto a canvas for a prize. How cool is that!

While we are attracting more members/visitors to the site, this means we become a good advertising and exposure option for companies. As our site stats grow, we'll attract more companies and the benefits will be passed back you guys, our extremely valued members.

As always feedback is extremely important and thank you not only for your support but for your continued commitment to our community.

Excellent work, buddy!

Its refreshing to find a site/forum where everyone is so freindly and helpful, and where the site owner(s) are constantly seeking ways to improve the service.

You are doing a grand job - so glad i found this place!

Paul

Wow! What a nice surprise.
It's just so pretty and fresh and clean and professional looking.
The site very organized and easy to navigate through.
I love it!
Every time I get busy and go away from the site for a bit, I come back and there's something new.
You make me feel special because you are always giving us a little present from time to time.
I love this site!!!!
