I wrote a set of instructions for newbies a good while back on how to prepare an image for web viewing . Must still be kicking around somewhere on the PC. If it is any help I can dig it out, update it and you can have a look-see to see if it's any good for a Member's Article ..... just a thought.

I think that the two images a day upload is plenty anyway, it will give you a chance of keeping your image on the homepage for longer where it will be seen by more members, otherwise when multiple images are uploaded by one member in one go, this just fills up the entire block of thumbnails on the homepage.
