Hi Len,
The choice is yours, the freeze options are there to make things a little easier for members but if you're really up for a complete random challenge, then keep hitting the Challenge Me button until something appeals to you and don't freeze anything.
Look at it his way, the more options you freeze the less challenging it can be. If you really want to throw yourself in feet first, simply accept the system has chosen for you as this can be the best way to find out more about your camera.
Good luck with the challenges, I know a number of members have already found PP extremely useful and have learned lots and it does get the old gray mater working harder to get photographs you'd normally not think about taking.

That was a funny typo, sounds like me getting me mum out of retirement! The PP's are great i have done 8 and have the maximum 3 outstanding. My only comment would be i have asked for feedback in most cases to see if i am improving and on a couple of occasions have not had feedback at all.
It would be nice even if it was "thats rubbish" to get some feedback. However i dont see how we could make it mandatory to get feedback?? I think a lot depends on what time of day you post and how long it sits on the home page.
Just comments anyhow, love this bit more than anything else we have done on the site.

What I have found is the NEW work or more recent work for PP are not shown in the latest 50 Challenges page and I'm having trouble finding them.
I wonder if a Gallery for PP should be set up in the Gallery page like Portraits or Nature, so we can look at all of them if we want to.
Also, you can't currently click on the Photographer's name in the PP page if you want to see his or hers other work.

Agree with debbie 100% are they technically possible? Anyone else have an opinion?

Hmmm it should be, maybe something is not working as it should I'll go and take a look as soon as I can. But then thinking about it, if projects are not done straight away then added they will display further down the list.
Regarding the new forum category just so I understand, any photos that are completed PPs are to put in a separate new forum rather than being categorised as they are now in the usual critique forums?
How about this, I can provide a sort option on the latest 50 challenges page which will allow you to choose between the latest accepted which is what it is now and the latest completed?

You guys rock, there was a problem with the database date formatting...... all fixed now on the personal projects page, latest 50 projects and latest accepted on the homepage.
Apologies for that one, this is why it's still in beta ;P
Thanks for making me aware..... I was only looking today at the latest challenges and thought it wasn't going too well. All is clear now.

Great Paul. seems to be fine now, there are a lot there without comments, if we all make the effort to critique after others have made the effort to carry out the challenges this would make this feature perfect. Half of it is sorted the rest is up to members!!

Just brainstorming a bit, but I wonder why we need to know what people are working on with an empty photo rather than looking at a completed project and critiquing it. Perhaps all we need is the completed latest 50 photos.
Also, as this category grows and we have more than 50 photos completed, where do the other older photos go and how can we look at them again, or new members look at them or find them?
On the Forum page you can scroll down and find a category and go into it, like Portraits, and just view Portraits. So could the Projects be added there so we could see everything?
At the very least, a link with the photographers name to their gallery would be helpful on Projects page.
Hope I'm helping and not confusing.

Paul? all seems sensible to me, you cant critique what hasnt been done can you? but you could critique a project section for completed projects as debbie says. If it were posted to a seperate section with the project details you could have more chance of saying what you think.
Hope i am helping and not confusing also! However i think this one feature of this site makes it different and makes US take photographs which is WHY we joined in the first place.
Off for a lie down.....
