Hi Paul,
lots of feedback to take in. But, initially I think it is a fair and constructive way forward for the successful continuation of the site and its members.

A huge amount of feedback!! So much it's making my head hurt!
Before I proceed with any radical changes to the site, it's quite clear that guidance/help is needed among the members that are either new to photography or members that do simply not have the confidence. I feel this is the area where we first need to focus on.
Since I first started this thread, I've come up with lots of other ideas sparked off by the great suggestions and more importantly the concerns that have been left and the more I think about them, none of them will really work if someone doesn't have the confidence to leave comments in the first place.
I need to keep focused on our sites values which is to help members as much as possible and not force anyone into a situation which they don't have either the knowledge or confidence to participate in.
Last night, I found what I feel to be a solid educational/informative path that we can follow, I just need to work out how to integrate it into this site. This educational path I'm looking at are "video" photo critiques, small movies that members can watch and enjoy but the real value would be members will get a feel for how someone else is critiquing because you can watch them and hear them.
I'm going to be exploring this today, I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

Awesome conclusion! I like where you are heading and I like the way you think. I look forward to learning more about what you've come up with.
So sorry we made your head spin, but sounds like you've gained a lot of knowledge from this exercise. I think it's pretty neat that you've allowed us to participate in progressing together as a unit with this site.
It's all in your very capable hands now, but know that you have our support as I think we've more than demonstrated in this thread.

No need to apologise Dbbie, this is what I'm here for and I can definitely see I have great support. This really is a great community!
Without further delay, here is phase 1:
All about this forum and the benefits of photo critique
It's a bit of a read and I hope everyone likes and approves of the concept.

I like the idea very much. The one thing I liked about the site DPF that is closing soon is that I learned alot from other members feedback. I joind another site but have not been happy with feedback. One thing I learned about making a critique on a phot is that it is easier to look at other peoples photos and see what you like or dislike about it easier than your own shots. When you look at your own photos you sometimes just see it as a memory of a place you have been. I have had other people point out little things that I did not notice but should have. Art
