Default Our new look is now open for public beta testing

One of the things we have been working on in the background is our new look/style, ready for 2008. We are now releasing the new style as an open public beta and you now have the opportunity to start using this new style.

What is open public beta?
This term is used when software is nearly complete and is an opportunity for developers to get feedback from a wider audience to iron out any problems before the retail version is released.

During this public beta, the old style will still be the default look and feel users will see when visiting the site but you can voluntarily use the new style which allows you to use the site with this new design and also optionally provide feedback to us so we can quickly fix any issues and take onboard any other feedback you may have.

When we are happy the new style is working and there are no problems, the public beta will close and the new style will then become the default and we will say goodbye to the old look.

How do I access the new style?
On the bottom left of every page, you will see a drop down list containing "Juicy" our old style and "PhotoTopix" our new style. Simply choose the style you wish to use!

As always we are looking for feedback and suggestions so we can improve any aspect of the site for our members.

Thanks for reading.

lovin it Paul

Really nice, fluid, smooth

colours stand out but not in your face. i like the menus on the rhs.

only point would be the Title/Logo top left seems out of style..not sure why it looks different thats the only way of explaining it.

overall really good and visually easy to surf..

Andy

Hi Paul, New style looks good, but I now have a scroll bar at bottom of screen which only moves the screen slightly left to right. My monitor is set up using 1024x768 and using Firefox.

Are you getting this on every page or just certain pages such as the homepage, forum list page etc?

Most pages are like this, but this one http://www.phototopix.co.uk/gallery/...ry.php?cat=515
Is the worse, I only see about 60% of this page and have to scroll for the rest.

this may be limited to lower res screens as i'm running 1280x1024 and looks fine
if you up your screen res it will go but i guess some people may prefer the larger view

Hi Paul, I have also noticed (same on old site). That if you visit a Members website from this site it opens in the same window so if you continue to look at various pages on that site, then only way back here is to keep hitting the back button. It would be better if the Members own website opened in a new window keeping Phototopix still open.
