On the weekend challenge named 'Yellow', do we have until midnight on Saturday evening or midnight on Sunday evening to upload images by, as on the homepage closing is on the 12th but on the challenge page it's says judging starts on the 12th.

That is great as I have taken a image today, but I will try and get something better tomorrow. Well that's the plan.

Changed the system slightly so the dates make more sense.

Chums ….. on this thing about producing an image specifically for the comp -or- using your existing stock images ….. I see and understand your various points.

At the mo there is no restriction so individuals can please themselves and that’s kinda cool. After all you will enter (a) for the fun and (b) for a chance of winning/feedback/points …. so obviously you are gonna enter what you think is a good one and you should be able to dig into your existing images if you need/want to Another individual may choose to go out and shoot specifically for the comp ….. and that’s pretty cool as well and I’m fully on-board with encouraging people to make new images with fresh ideas

However pitching one person’s ‘shoot for the comp’ image against another person’s ‘best pic I’ve ever taken that meets the criteria’ is a bit of an uneven playing field. If this was just for a laugh then there would be no probs but it is a competition (even if not taken tooooooooo seriously) with points, feedback and winners. You may therefore find that the ‘shoot for the comp’ individual feels they could not compete with the ‘my best image’ individual and therefore they may be reluctant to enter an image.

A cunning plan would be to have both, clearly identified. Retain the no restrictions for the longer competitions (e.g. the current Floating Reflections comp) but also have strict ‘shoot for the challenge’ rules on some of the other challenges (e.g. the Weekend Challenge).

That way all situations/individuals are catered for. In fact calling one type a Competition and the other a Challenge is a good thing IMHO

Just my $0.02 in an effort to help

Yup, i'm reading you on this one. Longer challenges are there so people can post the best of what they have or go out and take one especially for it which is their choice so no restrictions.

The weekend challenge is a different type of challenge and will compliment and run alongside the other challenges.

When I set the weekend challenge, this one was intended for members to go out and take the photo for this challenge so we have a regular fun thing to do on the weekend.

I can see we do need to have an explicit rule for the weekenders.

Great feedback Dave!

What does everyone else think? I'm on the same wavelength with Dave here so it would be interesting to get a little more feedback on this one.

I am with Dave as well, (in mind obviously) not much of a weekend challenge if all i do is trawl through 3000 images i already have. Whatever the rules are i will go with the flow on posting existing images e.t.c. However PERSONALLY i will shoot new for all challenges because that is what i want to do!
