I usually print 6x4/5x7/A4 but i need to print an 8x10 (but on an A4 sheet)???

Have put 8x10 into the print preferences and loaded A4 and tried full page fax & full page photo including Borderless (that's 4 attempts) have sized it to 8x10 in photoshop and tried all 4 again (thats 8 attempts)have sized to 8x10 and put into a new A4 file and tried again (that's 12 attempts) no matter what i seem to do the printer always seem to crop it smaller than 8x10???

I know I've had problems with my print preferences too and it's really annoying! You'll probably have different print settings to mine, so I can't really comment on that without seeing them, but it might be worth inserting the image into a Word doc and print from that.

I had this yesterday mate...
I'm using an Epson printer, in the print settings box thing, I found a menu called "Paper Handling".
In said menu there is an option for "destination paper size".
For some reason, the destination paper size was not the same as what I told it I was putting in (I was doing a 5x5 print).
Once I altered that to match, the print came out exactly the size I wanted.

I do this in CS2 wihout any problems.
Select file then New
Enter 21.1cm for the width.
Enter 29.7cm for the height.
Ensure background content is White.

Now open your photo that you want to print.
Make sure it is 8 x 10 by clicking on Image
Then Image size - sizes should be 20.4cm for width and 25.5cm for height.

If all ok then click your photo and drag into your new one your created first and place in the middle.

Job done

Then just print in the normal way.

Hope this helps.
All the best
Paul

The answer to your problem is simple... move to a bungalow.

I can solve your financial problems. I can solve your health and fitness problems. I can solve your career problems. I can solve your erec...no, forget that one. I can solve your love-life problems. But one thing I simply can't help on is your printer problems. The little sods have a mind of their own - which is more than I have.

Sorry.

I had the very same problem on the weekend. I had created a brochure and needed it to fit edge to edge so I could fold it accordian style..no borders! I don't have Photo Shop, but use Microsoft Picture It 10 instead to do my editing. After many a hair pulled out with frustration, I finally clicked on the Print on Special Paper option and selected a paper style that had no borders even though my paper wouldn't match. Voila, the printer read it exactly as I had hoped and it worked. I guess sometimes you just have to think like a machine...mechanical.

Hello Steve!

If I understand it well, you want to print an 8x10 sized picture on an A4 paper. If the situation is this, the process is the following:

-open the image in Photoshop
-select the zoom tool
-on the tool line click the Print Size button
-go to File-Print with preview
-Page setup set to A4 (landscape or portrait as you like)
-Center Image is signed but Scale To Fit Media should be empty!
-switch the print button and does not touch the printer's page setup parameters, the PS will set it automatically. If your printer is allow that, switch the "preview before printing" function.
-and print
In this process, as you see you don't have to deal with 8x10 size, the program will recognise and print it very punctually.
As a result you will get a print, with your exact 8x10 picture on a middle of an A4 paper. Thats all.

Regards
cleano
