PhotoTopix Competition: Dark and Light
Our very first quarterly competition! We are looking for any image depicting both dark and light which could be shadows or moonlight etc.

Entry Start Date: 1st April, 2008
Entry Close Date: 26th May, 2008
Judging Close Date: 2nd June, 2008
Voting Close Date: 30th June, 2008

Prizes

1st Place: 1st place in our winners gallery and £75 Amazon voucher.
2nd Place: 2nd place in our winners gallery and £50 Amazon voucher.
3rd Place: 3rd place in our winners gallery and £25 Amazon voucher.

How does it work?

This competition will be open to submit your photo between the entry start and close dates detailed above. When judging starts, the competition gallery will be closed for new uploads.

Five of the best photos will be chosen by the competition judges then a poll will made available to members and the voting then starts.

Once member voting has closed, the winners will automatically be revealed and notified via PM.

All entries are entirely anonymous until voting has closed and the winners revealed.

For new members:
To be able to upload to the gallery and submit your photo, our community 5 post rule applies. You need to become an active member of our community to be able to use some of the sites features and once you have made 5 or more posts in the forums, within an hour your account will be automatically upgraded to use the gallery and you will then be able to submit your entry for this and all future competitions.

Competition Rules

1. All images submitted must be your own work
2. Any image submitted must not have been previously published in any media save with the exception of to the web, either via your own site, or a photo sharing site.
3. Manipulation of an image is perfectly acceptable as is compositing.
4. PhotoTopix reserve the right to use your image in any media they see fit, for the sole purposes of promoting the site.
5. The judges decision of the short list is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the method of selection.
6. In the final stages of the competition, one member one vote procedures are in place to identify breaches of this condition. Any breach will result in disqualification and withdrawal of membership.
7. To be eligible to vote, you must have been a member for a minimum of seven day prior to the end of the competition.
8. Entry is limited to one per member.
9. Entrants under 16 must obtain written permission from a parent or guardian before entering.
10. It is the entrant`s responsibility to ensure that all the necessary permissions are obtained from people featured in a photograph where necessary
11. Entrants will be deemed to have understood the above rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when entering the competition.
12. PhotoTopix reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control.
13. If a winning entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, PhotoTopix reserves the right to either offer the prize to the next best entry, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition on phototopix.co.uk.
14. Members are not permitted to participate in a competition if they are on the judging panel.
15. Entries must not contain any watermarks or other markings that will identify the photographer.
