Welcome to our very first photographic competition. Please make sure read and understand the rules and we are really looking forward to seeing the submissions and most importantly, Good Luck!
Theme: Christmas
Submission Close Date: 25/12/2007 (Approx 5pm)
Judging: 25/12/2007 to 30/12/2007
Voting Start Date: 30/12/2007
Voting End Date: 04/01/2007
Prizes
There will be three levels of prizes. - 1st.. £25 Amazon Voucher
- 2nd.. £15 Amazon Voucher
- 3rd.. £10 Amazon Voucher
These prizes will be delivered to you via email. We will be in touch to get your details if you are one of the lucky winners.

How it works
This competition will be open to submit your photo by the submission close date detailed above. When judging starts, the competition gallery will be closed for new uploads.
Five of the best photos will be chosen by the competition judges then a poll will made available to members and the voting then starts.
The voting will be open for 5 days and will be automatically closed to reveal the winners.
Judges
The Judge panel will consist of myself, Alistair and two random guest judges selected from the current active contributors/members on the site.
Rules- 1. All images submitted must be your own work
- 2. Any image submitted must not have been previously published in any media save with the exception of to the web, either via your own site, or a photo sharing site.
- 3. Manipulation of an image is perfectly acceptable as is compositing.
- 4. PhotoTopix reserve the right to use your image in any media they see fit, for the sole purposes of promoting the site.
- 5. The judges decision of the short list is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the method of selection.
- 6. In the final stages of the competition, one member one vote procedures are in place to identify breaches of this condition. Any breach will result in disqualification and withdrawal of membership.
- 7. To be eligible to vote, you must have been a member for a minimum of seven day prior to the end of the competition.
- 8. Entry is limited to one per member.
- 9. Entrants under 16 must obtain written permission from a parent or guardian before entering.
- 10. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure that all the necessary permissions are obtained from people featured in a photograph where necessary
- 11. Entrants will be deemed to have understood the above rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when entering the competition.
- 12. Phototopix reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control.
- 13. If a winning entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, Phototopix reserves the right to either offer the prize to the next best entry, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition on phototopix.co.uk.
- 14. Members are not permitted to participate in a competition if they are on the judging panel.

I know exactly what you're talking about now, yes nobody should be able to see the submissions to the competition gallery.
I have fixed this issue and all submissions are now completely anonymous apart from the winners in the winner announcement.

Cheeky is fine ! The competition was launched prior to the invasion so this wasn’t a problem. The main reason for the restriction is that competition prizes in general will be physical i.e. require physical delivery, therefore shipping prizes around the world would incur extra expenses and take monies from the prize fund.
Ok so that answers your question as to the restriction. We are now reviewing the situation …. more news soon.
