Hi Rog
Do you have your own studio. What did you use to acheive lighting in the pic how was it positioned plus what power setting was the light on.
Thanks Rog

Hi Paul

I wish I did have my own studio but was lucky that day to have access to a large room with little or no furniture in and I could also block out the light too.

I had 2 Elinchrom 400BX lights, one to camera right at about 45 deg and one almost diagonally opposite fitted with a snoot for the hair light. I used a lightmeter and had my camera on manual the speed was set to 1/125 sec and aperture f/8. I measured for each light individually so the hair light was half a stop over exposed and the front light moved and adjusted to give me f/8.

Charlotte was sat in front of a black background about 2 feet behind her.

Hope that helps.

Rog

Thank you Rog.
Did Charlotte get an enlargment of the image.
I have just sent for a canvas print of a similar sort of pic to the one you have done, Hope it comes back ok, although when I print it out with my printer, which looks just how I want it on the monitor, it prints out quite dark, too dark in fact, so I am hopeing and praying its ok when it comes as these canvas prints are quite expensive

No problem Paul.

Yes, I got a large print for Charlotte and her mum had it framed and it looks really good.

Do you calibrate your monitor? I have for some while now as had exactly the same problem as you when I was printing myself. I use a ColorVision Spyder 2 pro which makes such a difference.

Now though I have all of the large prints (anything beyond 6 x 4)done by a company called Redcliffe Imaging Ltd in Bristol and the prints are superb and very reasonably priced. They do canvas printing and for a 24 x 16 print it costs either £48 or £72 depending on the thickness of the frame.

I've done some pictures for clients printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Photo rag paper and they are excellent. Really rich colours and because it has a tooth, looks so good. So much so that I've used them as a reference (lady doesnt mund me doing so ) so people can see what they come out like.
