Debbie, Nice portrait but in my opinion spoilt by cutting off at the knee, wrist and arm joints

Oh, yes, I see your point. It was actually a full body shot and I liked it too, but cropped it later in PS because I wanted the image to highlight her wonderful face.
Thanks for your comment, I see it quite differently now. Might re-think this one.

Hi there Debbie....it was the thin line of light at the right/bottom to pulls my eye. This is lovely light for an outdoors shot...good exposure on the hair, especially when it's so long.

Funny, that light bothered me too, but I chose not to crop even more out of the shot. Thanks for your comments Fay, much appreciated.

Hey Debbie. I have seen both images in thumbnails but not read the crits....deliberately.
Its this cropped version I prefer. The colours are more apparent the detail in the face better. Some people may or may not mention 'limb lopping' but at the end of the day its a portrait...an image of someones face. And as a portrait For me it works in essence.
There is a shard of high contrast image to the bottom right. Get rid? maybe. That would be the obvious approach. What if you were to enhance the face? make it more dominating to the image that the shard in the bottom right was less intrusive?
There is a ton of potential in this shot. For a basic edit I would lighten the face and retain detail and mute the background a little and maybe crop a little tighter. ITS A GOOD SHOT!!! this is wonderful by any standard...look to see how you can make it great. The key to an image like this is subtle emphasis. Nice work. Be happy.

That's awesome TCO. Thanks for all the great advice. I'm going to play around with it as you suggested and see what I come up with.
