Default The Urchin....

Photographers Comments
Was reading a book round father in laws today and had some urchin pics from before the 2nd world war. Had a play with a recent pic and tried to get the same look. Shots were quite high in contrast and of course had some grain. Opinions good or bad as usual please folks.

What a fantastic expression. This child clearly knows more than his age allows.

You have got the older look to this image, which has worked well. The only thing that spoils it for me are those reflections in the eyes.

Yeah that bloody softbox is a pain at times mate. Stuck it on several sites including a all pro site in the states and they said the same. Nice image but...CATCHLIGHTS TOO BIG ANDY!!
I always forget. When I move the light back it just looks too harsh even with a diffusion screen in front. I tried bouncing light in via a foamcore panel too but I lose speed and tend to shoot all studio work at iso 100. I know I can get away with a faster setting but its a bad habit from the film days. Some kind of mental block...bleargh!!!!

Thanks guys
