You have got the older look to this image, which has worked well. The only thing that spoils it for me are those reflections in the eyes.

Yeah that bloody softbox is a pain at times mate. Stuck it on several sites including a all pro site in the states and they said the same. Nice image but...CATCHLIGHTS TOO BIG ANDY!!
I always forget. When I move the light back it just looks too harsh even with a diffusion screen in front. I tried bouncing light in via a foamcore panel too but I lose speed and tend to shoot all studio work at iso 100. I know I can get away with a faster setting but its a bad habit from the film days. Some kind of mental block...bleargh!!!!

Yeah the catchlights are big but you only notice them because the eyes look so damn good!! storming shot dude. love the effect and the expression. my eye gets pulled to his white vest under his jumper abit though..
