Hey mate!!! you did it!
Not as easy as you would think huh mate? You did better than me when I first used studio equipment, mine was a disaster!

I would have gone in closer on this one mate. Maybe a torso shot with the cam. To be fair I think you should seek advice from Andy EosNrs and Andy Newbloke...this is their kind of work. Most of my portrait work is based around babies/parents/dogs. I think angles and lighting when shooting portraits is very subject orientated and I have shot very few saucy young women in short skirts!!!

Hey Steve
Not the easiest of subjects to start on. One thing i would say is next shoot you do, lose any props. start out very simple mate. keep the focus on the model, the crop and the expression rather than making a busy and complicated shot. having said that, the exposure is top notch, focus is good and the lighting is even and soft where it should be. I think the camera in the shot is the same as mine at home!! if you want to do a bendy over shot, use a stool so as not to drag the eye from the model. all is good mate and since you're teaching yourself great couple of first shots mate. will pm you in a sec

Cheers for the comments boys,
It really is a lot to get your head round at first...

The reason i went for the props was for the first 2 hours their were 7 of us and one participant was asking for what i would consider slightly dodgy poses and also showed us some nudie pics on his laptop.
I got the distinct impression that jenny wasn't very comfortable at all,so when said person left with their 2 friends and 4 of us decided to do an extra hour i tried to make it a bit more light hearted...
The difference in the mood and the subsequent pics were much better when she felt at ease and it helped to build up more of a rapport between us when she was having fun, even though she did look at me a bit strangely when i took a fire extinguisher off the wall LOL.

In conclusion i'm not about to rush out and spend a fortune on lights and buy a studio but i really enjoyed myself,so i have booked a session with a pro at a local studio and have looked into models work for pics on PURESTORM....

Good for you Steve. Glad you saw fit to lighten the mood. With shooting models in the studio, some amateurs see it as a way to get as you said, nudie shots to stick on the laptop and boast about. nothing wrong with nude stuff, they just have their place. Your model sounds like it wasnt her thing and you made a very good choice to do what you did. all credit to you, will take you a long in the esteemed credit stakes..lotsa brownie points..
