Centre of Attention.
Photographers Comments
Taken about a month ago, I was asked to shoot a Wedding Reception.
Now I know why the pro leaves before the party, they turn off all the lights!
It was a difficult but enjoyable nights shooting, D3 would have come in handy though thats for sure...

looks a little to separated for my liking. which way do you do this as everyone has different ways. i duplicate, desaturate the erase being careful not to get too much flare from the colour onto the BW.
Good effort tho and i'm sure the emotional content is worth far more than my crit to her!!

Cheers Andy.
I'm not a photoshop expert by any stretch... I desaturated then used the history brush.
I'm not a big fan of selective colouring myself, but this was just screaming at me to be done for some reason.
I hope she likes it, took 400 photos that night.
Here's the origional, small basic jpeg, the edited version is from a RAW file.

Did you click the bar to show it full size? The shoulders look better then, smoother not perfect but most of it is caused by the forum resizing the image, I see it a lot on here.
Glad you like the shot and the idea, thanks.

Hey Merv, its the light from behind which gave the flare i saw so thats a brownie point in your favour!! be careful of the colour change as the orig looks more red than your edited version. 400 shots in a eve..? i'd be hard pushed to that myself!! good hard work i see!

My jpegs are always more saturated and colourfull than my RAW files and a lot of the time I prefer them, one reason why I shot both types, incase I couldn't get decent results from the raw files like a last resort backup failsafe thingy.

I love that effect, really stunning. If that shot was presented to me I'd be thrilled with it.

Hi merv i desaturate and then goto the layers palette duplicate layer now use the art history brush as you have been... if you go over the edges use the eraser to correct yourself .. handy way off doing it! when your done just merge the layers or flatten image... worth doing this with other filter effects too! but i like what you have done.. just needs TLC

i like it. if i was doing this, id use a layer mask. that way tou never affect the duplicate or original. not relly "down" with art history brush to be honest!
