Hi Fstopman,

I really like your shot, I like the way that the dark backgroung accentuates the lighter tones of the face. I think this works really well in B&W.

How did you get such an even light over his face? It looks like his face should be in shadow under the hat?

The only thing I would say (and I may not explain this very well as I'm not an art critic) is that I want the shot to be candid, but somehow it makes me feel like it was posed and on some level that makes me feel a little cheated.

Apologies if thats overly deep, on balance I really like the shot!!!

the shot wasn't totaly posed, Dirk is a friend and is used to me photgraphing him so wasn't really taking much notice, but the light was fantastic and I was experimenting with just the smallest amount of fill in flash and pre visualized the B&W result

I love the fact you pre visualized it, its great when that happens. How did you use the fill in flash, I keep reading about it, but haven't a clue how to get my camera to do anything other than basically flash or dont't flash?? Did you use a diffuser on the flash?

Regards

Hello again Keith. Are you in cornwall much? Great looking face this guy has. Again, a personal thing, I loved have loved some eye contact. The blip of flash has balanced it out nicely. Nice capture

Hi TCO,
I spent a week in polperro at the begining of june for
25th wedding anniversary and really loved the place.
I've done some landscape work in looe and further down in South Cornwall nr Helston (church cove).
Once I'm fully fit again I will certaintly be going to Cornwall again.I'd love to get a camper van and tour round Cornwall for a month.

I live in a place called Colan just outside of newquay. I know church cove well and if you fancy more of a trip then Lizard point is amazing when the rips are at their strongest.
