This was a recovery pic from a customer shoot last week. The wife came in for her pic to be done but I saw this guys face and had to take the pic. Unfortunately I ballsed it up. Not easy getting him to sit still. He had been in a few scrapes, earing yanked out in last weeks misunderstanding Anyway I ended up with a more conventional image for him and the usual for her. Flawed yes...but he looks so mean! Click to toggle zoom ![]() |

Here goes....a great moody image and it must have been very brave to ask him to pose.
I've done something that I've consistantly whinged about ...but in this case 'improves' the image for me....I've cropped it then lightened and brightened; which actually brings out a bit of redness on the damaged ear. #I've saved my image/edit on photobucket 0 how do I link it here?# |

Alan Do the following.
{img}pastetheurlofyourimagehere{/img} Just replace the '{ } ' with [ ] instead and it will link. I had to use the { } otherwise it would have thought I was posting an image!!! look forward to seeing your edit mate |

I'm interested to know what you mean by it's lost any fine structure?
It looks to me you've caught plenty of detail, maybe too much? Do people want to see every imperfection in their skin? I've been trying to think of something good and something bad about it, feel like I know the bloke I've been looking at him so long. All I can come up with is I'm not keen on the crop but I don't know how to do it differently. Cropping portraits is actually something I want to talk to you about, I never know where or how to do it. How do you decide? |

You just missed the first '[' mate that was all.
I like the crop. I love the crop actually cheers for that, maybe bring back the tip of the ear. Lightening it has produced a few thousand highlights that I had just removed lol..Ironic that. Cheers Alan I see the aim of the edit. It has made me rethink and I will drag the file back out later in the day for another look. |
