Default Self Portrait #3

Photographers Comments
Ok peeps I been practicing again. Used black backdrop in light tent - one small lamp to the right shining in and another light below me to try and cast shadows.

Going to try some more post work, but I wanted to see what you guys thought first.

TIA

Almost a smile there...! Nice relaxed shot. Nice to see the eyes looking at the camera as TCO said on the other one. I'm trying to work out if its just my monitor (or maybe my eyes!) or if the focus is ever so slightly out?! I may be wrong! Apologies if i am!

hiyas zoe, yes it does seem to be a little out of focus to me too - I ran it through Smart filter in Photoshop and that helped a lot, I will repost the image now!

Oh my god it's worse than Paul Cooks dolls and how did you get in the light box

Seriously though; nice image plenty of detail I prefer the re-worked one better.

Took me <censored> ages to get the camera and myself to the angle needed. I was kneeling on the floor with the light tent on the table to get the black bg.... eventually got there tho.. .LOL

Really think I need to open the apeture a lot more for more focus - I am having to sharpen the image in Photoshop as you can see by the edit.

Trial and error but am getting there slowly.....

Cheers Len and fanx u for looking

PS Yay back to work Monday!!!!!!!!!!

This really is a 1950's movie still...but this time I love it. A tiny bit more contrast and you are there. I am a HUGE fan of film noir. This is typical of that mate. Hard directional light and deliberate shadows cast across the face...bloody fantastic. My top three fav films are demonstrative of this kind of light:
Sin city
The Third Man
The Big Combo...

Bloody great mate.

I know its probably not what you were trying to do but you did it..

I can only agree with everyone else cracking self portrait nice pose, great lighting and I think the image has really nice atmosphere to it.
Again in agreement with all other posts I would only sharpen the image a little other than that I would be really happy with the result.
Exelent work.
