Important: Possible new malicious file
I sometimes get emails now and again about scams, new viruses etc. so I'm not sure about the authenticity of the following but I wanted to share with you as a reminder to never open attachments even if it's from someone you know.
------------------------------------------------
Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.
This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton.
Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail with a Power Point
presentation " Life is Beautiful"
If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and
delete it immediately.
If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying:
"It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful."
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who
sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.
This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it.
The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner".
PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to
PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY! THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES

I must admit I have been very lucky so far concerning viruses, I use AVG antivirus software and run Adaware once a week (if I remember). And I delete anything that it finds.

This one has been doing the rounds since 2002 ... an "Urban Legend" ... a hoax. There are numerous reports on it as a ... hoax.
However, the advice given is good regarding the opening of unknown attachments. Life is beautiful Hoax - Symantec.com

hehe I do the same myself don't worry.
@tedz: I had a feeling this was a hoax, it had that hoax feel about it but saying that I do know of a way to exploit powerpoint this way so it is just possible, not that I would you understand. Being an IT pro and especially a software developer it can be easy to find the holes which is why I delete the majority of attachments from my emails before they even appear in my inbox.
