Great article. Spooks Thanks for posting, it has been most iluminating. I have just got my first DSLR and had started to take a few close-up shots of my A) tin opener and b) hand lens. Taking loads of pics of each and changing the settings to see what would happen. Then I read your article and I gave me hope that I may not be mad after all.
For me as an absolute beginner I am enjoying this small scale close-up work because it seems that there are less variables to contend with i,e, changing light and weather conditions of the great out doors. Also I can get more of an idea as to just what the effect of changing the appiture and exposure etc. I shall upload some of my attempts at this macro lark..unfortunatly I only have the 14-42 kit lens to play with..) Thanks again Spooks for a top article...I look forward to learning more...H |

I posted some over in the macro forum on the Metal Macro thread.
Here's the magnifying glass selection. I don't have all the data regarding settings tho. That's something I realised whilst reading your bit. Cheers Dude. |

And some more magnifying glassary. I reilise that some of them are well blurry without a proppa macro lens. Got a set of those close-up lenses which fit onto the 14-42 lens on order. Thing is, are they any good?
