Pretty in the shade

Took a neighbor to the hospital for tests, so went outside to a planter while waiting. There was a younger fellow standing there giving me directives and could tell that he didnt know what the hell he was talking about..so I just smiled. This little beauty caught my attention because of its color and being lower to the ground, it didnt flap in the wind. This ended up being an exercise in changing the b/g to a solid color

Hi Fay, well your exercise worked. This is a great image and your background is a good colour choice as it really makes that yellow stand out even more, the flower is very sharp and I like the reddish bits in the middle (tell you tell that I know my flowers ). Anyway well done.

I have been practising this type of shot myself as I have a competition coming up soon with the title of flowers.

Bootiful, Fay - the solid bg works a treat - am going to attempt something like this later today (if the wind dies down that is LOL).

My garden is full of flowers and shrubs, but the only name I know is "Grass"!!! LOL The missus is the gardner, not me - does it show? LOL
