have no idea what Im doing...this is a stretch for me, so am open to any kind of pointers...especially wondering about the tone?..

Serious Critique Required: The photographer has requested he/she would like a more serious level of critique for this image to obtain more constructive critiscism from other members. For someone who doesn't know what they are doing, you're doing it pretty well! I like the tight crop and softness of the image, as it adds to the abstract of the black and white tones. I would maybe have liked to see more highlights on the petals, just to lift it a touch, but all in all, it's really pretty good! Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I was mainly unsure about trying to change it from it's original color. Hubby said he liked the original better. I'm attaching it (xfingers)

To be honest, i prefer your black and white edit. Maybe pink just isn't my colour!

I would never have even thought of converting a flower to mono. You guys are very good at inspiring images. I love it Fay. Totally agree with Paul chum. Maybe a smidge lighter on the levels but its super.

Also I agree with Bev ! (just call me mr.Neutral) The colour version is outstanding. Again the tight crop works really well. You lucky girl you have the best of both worlds. Very well done.
