Default Pink Frangipani

Photographers Comments
Untouched, did not have the heart to edit this, liked it just the way I took it... Natural.

this is magnificent for untouched. I think that if you had used a narrower aperature, you could have gotten more of the stem in focus. there are 3 or 4 little black dots that I would clone out on the lower right petal

Default Pink Frangipani

Hi Fay and thank you for a very useful comment. I take it a narrower aperature would mean higher number F-stops like f8 or f11?(mine only goes to f11). I am not the brighest when it comes to the technical side of things
I did notice a few spots that needed to be cloned, but that would not have made it 'untouched'
I didn't realize until today, that the photos I took of the frangipani were all done by accident with an ND filter on.
And I am not a blonde

I also thank you for your part in my being able to recieve email notification on my uploads. I had been battling with this too. All sorted now.

Many thanks....Claire

I would say that your stop should have been at least 8.0
I still remember the struggle I had for my mind to grapple with aperature...my brain seemed to go in knots (the # system seems to go against how our brain has been programmed over the yrs...anything to complicate life). I would say that understanding aperature will become one of your most important basic tools.

Your focus is great, it just doesn't go deep enough. Well you ND may have been a good thing...saves blowouts on the white.

Hi Claire it's really good for being untouched ... I like the comp of it ... and think it shows it well against the black background.
Cheers
Else

Falls nicely within the frame. Lighting is wonderful and subdued.
Only real crits are it looks a little soft overall and those black spots that Fay mentioned.
Lovely images

Many thanks to all of you. I will try this again soon. My eyes have opened and found these growing in my neighbours front yard This shot came from miles away and carefully cartered it home in a takeaway container with water in it, as I was doing the rounds at work. When I saw these...I just thought at the time they would look good on black. Must get myself some black velvet.
