Hi Lorraine, I like the black background but I think the highlights are a bit washed out. Also you have missed the top of the stamens and this spoils the composition. I wouldn't matter is they were a bit out of focus because you are concentrating on the middle.

Flowers must be one of the most popular of all still life subjects, and with good reason, and it hasn't turned out all that badly either, as I take it yor just like me and just begining to pursue this area.
