Photographers Comments
This is my first attempt at a macro shot, it is a 2cm square section of a polished stone bought in Keswick market last year of about 6 x 4inches. I quickly discovered the peculiarities that must be associated with this kind of photography. With the lens 1cm from the stone, it cast a shadow over half of the stone no matter where I placed either the stone or camera. As I only wished to use natural light, it was necessary to use a white hand held reflector.

I’m pleased with the results and still have many more cm square to explore on this stone alone!

Alistair

Fist off, thanks for the comments, I've just taken a new look at the stone and the picture and was amazed at the small size of the area filled by the picture.

I'm posting an attachment here so that you can get an appreciation of the magnification in the macro shot ......... these are both 100% images

Hi Alistair, your lens does a good job, and as an experiment I would say it worked. As a picture I am not that sure.
