All this does for me is to make me jealous and yearning for the summer or at least for February when I'm off to New Zealand for their summer!

Thanks for all of your replies! Lucky you off to New Zealand........I believe the scenary is grate for photographing over there.

I have just given up work and gone back to university to train to be a teacher so we won't be jetting off anywhere for a while!

I think this would have worked better with a plain background, as my eye keeps looking around for something else before coming back to the glasses.

It is fantastic out there, we spent last Christmas out there which was their summer, hired a camper and spent a month driving around south island, we will be going back soon. And filled up many memory cards

Any and all tips for locations on the South Island most welcome

Sorry Kay, if we seemed to have hijacked your posting.

As for South Island, well your first stop should be Christchuch if heading in by plane with modern architecture. Lake Tekapo is well worth a visit with its still waters and nice reflections of the mountains. Mt Cooke will need a few days, as we waited for the cloud to lift and the views were great then it disappeared again also look out for the massive lupines on the side of the roads. Take a helicopter ride upon to Fox Glacier, and have the movie camera on as you head up to the top of the glacier then he will turn towards the waterfall and almost nose dive down towards the ice before landing. The ice caves are great for photos. The West coast around Westpoint has great deserted beaches with lots of driftwood and sunsets (need I say more). If you get to Kaikoura for the whale watching then I would recommend the helicopter as you them see the complete whales and not just the tail fin. And as for the rest of South Island well it is mountains and streams with the occasional vehicle, sometimes we were driving for hours on main roads and did not see another vehicle. You will enjoy.

Hi Kay - this makes me yearn for summer - (did we have one this year) I like the way the gold/yellow towel creates the extra warmth and impression of summer.
