Jessies/Jesses are leather straps that are attached around the bird's legs to allow them to be secured to a perch at displays, or to help the handler keep hold of stray birds

Jessies are are small leather straps attached to it legs and used to hold the bird whilst on your hand, you wrap them around you fingers and hold them in your clenched hand. obviously you wear a leather gauntlet
