I have been waiting awhile to find one of these and this was the morning that it happened. Yes!!!! This is a Green Heron - a juvenile that had just caught a fish.

Nice capture Mary. Lovely and sharp and he's got lovely colouring which you've brought out nicely

Thanks Bev and Maureen- I was pleased to get this bird- not the most inspired of shots but at least I got one. I had been told that the best way to see these was to go out in a canoe or kayak- not something I am about to do ( picture the boat tipping over and the camera equipment sinking to the lake bottom- not a pleasant picture) so I was thrilled to get this such as it is.
