Photographers Comments
Took three separate exposures in RAW for this image of the forest in Argyll, Scotland.

It's interesting of you to Post examples Mark....thank you.
Now for a question?
The goldy colour on the tree trunk and also on the ground.
Dosen't look the right colour for me?
And a second question if I may.
The burnt out white on the ground?
Even tho I haven't yet read any Tutorials or anything yet,
I was of the understanding that this was the whole idea........to stretch the heel and toe say to speak, or to try and achieve results closer matching those of film?
Can someone fill me in.
Cheers Joseph.

HI Joseph, thank you for taking the time to visit this image.
The goldy colour on the tree trunk and ground are dead pine needles, which gave the area more of a sandy looking colour, plus with the direction of the sun (and time of day) gave it an eerie look to start with.
As for the bleached out areas, (thanks for pointing this bit out), I had not truly noticed them before posting the image. This will be down to my own fault here, as I hightened the levels after doing the HDR. What I should have done was do the layer adjustments selectively. Will have to have another go at this one I think LOL
Again, thank you for stopping by and for your comments and questions :

For me Spooks this is a 'print up & on the wall' job. Yes, the small areas of highlight could be burt in a little perhaps to take the edge off? The only observation is that I wish the nearest tree (on the RH side) was either more in focus or completely out of focus ..... but it's no show stopper.
I do like HDR when it's complimentary to the subject or is done subtly. You have made a good job of this IMHO

Thank you very much Mark, and thank you for your time. It will be good to see the re-make and see the difference. Good luck with it, and hope that it goes well for you. In the meantime I'll try to follow up on what you are doing.
Cheers again Joseph
