Evening Rays
Photographers Comments
This Image won me first place in a competition this week with the title Sunsets. It was not the image that I thought would win, but the judge must have liked it.
Serious Critique Required: The photographer has requested he/she would like a more serious level of critique for this image to obtain more constructive critiscism from other members. Please make sure the comments you leave are indeed constructive and aim to help the photographer see the image from a different perspective and/or provide help and guidance to how the image can be improved.

I'm always, always amazed when vastness becomes so collapsed and loses all of it's weight, the way that the hills are sillohuetted in this produces that exact property where they suddenly lose all depth and become these brilliant 2D shapes, the only thing I would have done differently on this, is to do a little PP upon the clouds just above the sun, as they look a little bit merky on my monitor and could do with being subtly burnt out.

Thanks for your comment, I will have another look at this, as the print I entered was only 12in x 5in and mounted. I will now get this image printed at a larger size to enter interclub competitions, and will have a go at burning these highlights before re-printing.

This is a beauty, mate. Its not too heavy and the composition is great. The white/light object in the distance (Third of the way in on the right) is a little distracting, but its maybe just because its hard to tell what it is from a small image.

Hi Paul, That is one of the comments that the judge did make about this image, it is in fact a reservoir. But I think that I will clone it out when I re-print, as unless you know what it is then as you say it is distracting.

Cheers for that, I entered three images into this competition and this is the one that I thought would not do so well, just shows the difference between looking at your own images and then someone else looking at them.
