Default Johnston Canyon falls, Rocky Mountains

Photographers Comments
Natures colours are amazing! These falls were still in thaw - spectacular scene....

PS I had trouble resizing this image to an acceptable size ... would love some feedback on the best way to do this - I use Photoshop Elements but have resized it in Fujifilm's software - and it has spoiled it!

Hi Lenita what version of elements do you have? I have 6 but shouldnt be much difference

go to image>resize>Image size then when dialogue box opens type in 800 pixels for the width, if you have the scale styles, constrain proportions, and resample image boxes ticked this should do the job.

Image looks great, almost like milk flowing!

Hi Dennis,

Thankyou! I thought I've figured it out after reading your message(I have version 5 of Elements), but when I tried to attach the resulting image I discovered it is still too large a file.
(I did as you suggested and made the longest side 800 pixels).

Oh ... and thankyou for your encouraging words re the image itself.

That only re-sizes the pic,you need to do the image size (as in quality) either go to File-Save for web devices, but will delete the EXIF data or FILE-Save as,then select save as Jpg when you get the dialogue box up move the slider down until the image size drops below 256K.

Any problems give me a PM and we'll have you sorted out in no time...

Edit: Sorry forgot to say nice pic, must be bloody cold to freeze a waterfall.

Steve & Dennis,

Thankyou! It's interesting that when using software it is so easy to miss details such as this! (I use CADD and I am constantly 'finding' more tools that I simply haven't noticed along the way!).
Hopefully it has worked this time ... I'm going to attempt to attach the result .....

Yay! It worked! And I like the result sooooo much more .... my image looks like it should
Thankyou both for your help!

And thankyou, Steve, for your comments ... I still can't wrap my head around a frozen waterfall LOL - even after seeing a couple with my own eyes. I am Australian ... even snow is a bit hard to come by here! Frozen rivers and waterfalls just don't enter my equation ... Canada is so different. Temperatures that plunge to -30degC don't gel with me .... our daughter has been through this kind of weather at the same time as we were enjoying +30degC ... the mind boggles!!!

Hi Else,
When I think about it, that is rather a funny saying!! Used commonly here in the land of Oz!!
Our daughter is on a working holiday in Canada, and has spent time in Lake Louise, Edmonton - both cold places! As well as Alma (bay of Fundy), Calgary and now she is looking for work in Quebec city area ....
So we decided to visit as well! (And meet the potential son-in-law LOL! A French Canadian).
During our trip with her in May, we toured the Rockies .... spring, but not everything had thawed as this photo testifies ...

Hi Lenita .. you daughter has chosen all the cold places to adventure to .. she must be finding it very different from Australia .. Hope that you enjoyed your trip across Canada .. and depending on the year .. spring can come a little earlier then it has this year .. It has been pretty cold. . still not warmed up here on the west coast ... at least not in my particular area.
Cheers
Else
