Starling ...... AAAaaarrrrg!!
They are in my roof and did you know the little blighters are a protected species. It's unlawful to disturb or prevent them access to their nest .... Hurrumph!
Really great shot Bev. I had no idea that their beaks were quite so long.

Dave..thanks for your comments, i notice your only up the road from me! good to see an Essex lad aboard!
Nik..many thanks for that kind comment, just love avian photography! and alas no straw or light trickery, just a starling with a very big nose!!
Dave-f18, Lol!! they really are hated by many, but these birds are the garden bullies and i get cross when they mug the little ones for their food, but they do have great personalities when you get to know them ...sorry though about the loft invasion!!!
Maureen..your comments are always appreciated as you know, and i love my garden birds, i have a fledgling starling that im hand feeding at the moment as he has been abandoned, dont know if he will make it, but have to give them all a chance.

Oh I don't hate them, just get exasperated. We had them last year but the devils got in again this year (due mainly to the poor condition of my roof boarding). I tolerate them until they leave then bung up the holes. Not surprisingly the RSPB describes said Starling as 'energetic, noisy and gregarious' ..... make a bloomin racket more like
Looking at this one again, he's a bit threadbare on his underside. Reckon hes either been in a few fights of seen a bit too much 'egg production' action this season

Your certainly right about the noise they make Dave!
I did explain in the wrie up above the picture about his poor chest, due to the long beak he cant preen that area, so eventually the feathers will fall out, but i think a new load are starting to appear
