A 100mm lens!!!!! How close you must have been. Super shot, but he looks as if he's coming to get you.

The only snakes we get here in the wild are adders and grass snakes, and thats only in summer months when its really hot, oh and slow worms,
i have some adder shots and a grass snake shot which il post later but i have to agree, to get good focusing on these creatures isnt easy, i have been using manual mode which i find helps.

Awesome shot Mary!....and a great tale to go with it! ...looks like you found the perfect setting for it , the colors are very complementary .

Thanks Donna- Well the choice here was me crawling around on ground level with the snake and that really wasn't going to happen or the snake posing on the fence. I was happy with that option- the snake not so much. Mary
