Blimey Dorinda, this was bright. Did you use an ND filter on your camera for this? You certainly have retained good detail in the area immediately around the sun. It's a very dramatic sky and from that point of view it is a good capture. I'd just like something else in the frame with it. Something to give it a bit of reference. I can just see what looks like a hill (bottom right) and I'd have liked a bit more silhouetted land mass to set the drama against.

no ND filter , just a lense with a plain glass filter , there wasnt really a lot around to use as a reference as this was taken on a sea front and i wanted to get the sun centres, which i suppose i could have done coming futher out and not zoomed in so much . Only a litle while since i have had the camera so just realizing what i can do with it. thanks for your scoments, would a filter give it more depth

no but it would stop the picture burning out and keep detail lost due to the brightness!

just helps with bright light (non technical answer)

Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch!!!

Dorinda

The average person in the west loses about 50% of the cells at their retina (at the back of the eye) by the time they hit the age of 50. Keep this up, and despite only being 32 you will be joining them. A few simple rules;

1. Always wear sunglasses with UV protection in bright light (even when cloudy) Notice my avatar.
2. Never point your camera at the sun. It will damage your camera and your eyes.
3. Always have sex before breakfast as it sets you up for the day.

That's enuff rules for now.

As usual, Rob makes a good point...
Did you ever set fire to paper using a magnifying glass by accurate focusing?
Now think of your lens as a magnifying glass, whose job it is to focus on your sensor extremely accurately, and into your eye while you compose!
It's pretty scary actually.
Nice dramatic effect though
