North Shore Mountains
Photographers Comments
This is a view from the freeway .. the North Shore Mountains .. the one with the most snow . with the high peak is called the Lions . To access the mountain you have to drive up to Lions Bay along the same road you would driving up to Whistler. A long time ago .. I managed to hike to near the very top of it .. What a view from up there ..
Cheers
Else

Well first of all, I like it Else. A good sense of place and feeling of a cold winter's day.
The only thing I'd suggest is to crop away some of the sky. To my eye all the elements of this image are in horizontal bands - the line of trees in the foreground, the line of buildings, the line of trees beyond and the line of mountains in the background. I feel that there is too mych sky and all that blue is not adding much to the scene. cropping at around 50% of the distance from the top to the first cloud would make the sky more in balance (shape-wise) with the rest and I think the 'letterbox' format would be attractive. I'd possibly even crop away those industrial(?) buildings right at the bottom but that's a minor thing.
Just my $0.02 ...... good image, Dave.
P.S. I see you use a G7. I use a G6 occasionally & I've always like the Canon 'G' series. Toying with getting a G9 some time in the future

Hi Else, what a stunning landscape .
I agree with Dave and Lisa about cropping the Sky, but not to the degree that Dave suggests. It looks like you have cropped to the thirds rule on the highest peak on the RHS, perhaps bringing the snow covered ones onto that line will balance it better...just a thought.

Hi Diane, Maureen and Denny .. was going to try to post the edited photo in a small icon .. but .. dang it . I have it too large .. so going to change the photo ... Some days .. the brain doesn't work .. The view that is around the lower mainland can be incredible .. I see the mountains to the east of me and the water to the south. Lots of roof tops .. but still a nice view... We keep on thinking about moving .. even if it isn't a 180 view .. I would still miss it. From most the freeways you get the view of mountains ... We are more or less surround by them .. lol.
Glad that you enjoyed seeing the North Shore Mountains ...
Cheers
Else
