I like the subtle colours and shades in this image, Fay. And the red object in the foreground adds interest - I want to go and investigate it - pick it up and find out what it is! The door is inviting as well.
Good focus, lighting and colour - this image tells a story to me!

A very good shot, Fay, with strong colours and I like the shadowy area. Whole thing has quite a spooky feel. Not too sure about that central vertical beam, it does divide the shot into two halves a bit. I have no idea what a roothouse is. What is a roothouse???

Hello Fay ... I used to do quite a lot of Rooting when I was younger and had a Green Thumb.
The Image has a subterranean feel to it and the darkness emphasis's that,...
anyone Rooting will benefit from the Darkness, especially the Spores and Molds.
So My dear, from My unexperienced Photographic Eye ... all detail is nice and clear, yet ... the Image does little for Me and has not got Me excited enough to Cut & Clone. I bet the Birds like this place to Nest. *twitter*

Sorry everyone...never checked back cause that I would get an automatic notification.
Lenita...one of the puzzles that I had was if the orange was distracting..didn't bother me but was curious as to how it affected others.
Rob...can't believe I never saw the 1/2 porportion. I remember eyeing the corner edge of the building, thinking that that was OK. Was wondering about the light part in the upper left? Roothouses were probably before your time. They were like cellars dug into a hillside where root vegetable and such were kept for keeping because it was cooler.
Dear Sweet Tweet (tedz), So what would it take to get you excited?...giggle.
Else!...you are clairvoyant!!!!!...the truth is..I got busted
....went thru all of that, I still can't get Tedz excited

Fay
I find that if I have a scene like this which is in danger of splitting down the centre, taking the shot at a steep angle - even 45deg - turns the strong down-line into a strong diagonal which often works better, and given the nature of this shot I think it might have worked here. As for my age - I am only two years behind you, but of course I can never catch you up!

I have to keep looking at the door as i expect something or someone to leap out! get a great feel to this..eerie, even a bit mystical, the beam over the door keeps dragging my eyes to it, but apart from that i like it..simple but quite powerful.

Dear Fay ... I misunderstood the meaning of *Roothouse*
Apart from all the technical blah blah, a Photo does little for Me unless it has some sort of meaning/connection.
I am not wrapped up in perfection, more the mood.
I had thought a Roothouse was for Propagating Plants (cut & clone and don't forget the hormone dip) ... however as a Cold Store/Cellar it is just fine and dandy.
What gets Me excited? Censorship and Ninkinpoops
