The compo is great, especially the diagonal jetty.
My main gripe is the lack of colour. I realise that it's true to life, it's long before any real colour would have appeared in the sky but I find it stuck in limbo between colour and monochrome. Perhaps a monochrome version would look better?
Andy.

Hi Andy, thanks for the comment. I'm not too sure about mono, as you state its true to life as is and I prefer it that way. I haven't tried a conversion though so will give it a go and see what happens.
Peter.

Hi Peter, hope you don’t mind a few comments form a forum newbie.
Like this …… it’s got that tranquil & serene feeling of the quietness that exists just before the bustle of the day begins. The subdued colours add to that atmosphere. If anything I feel that cropping away most of the sky would benefit as, for me, it’s not adding much to the image and I feel the whole scene is better balanced with the bridge & headland near the top. Just my $0.02.
Is this Dalgetty Bay or there abouts looking west? I was born & brought up in Dunfermline but left there when I was 20, more years ago than I care to remember ….. brings back memories, oh dear I’m welling up now …… [sidles off to a darkened room thinking of childhood stuff from long ago – sniff]
Dave.

Hi Dave, thanks for the comments. I think compositionally I prefer it as it is, probably because there is a natural division into thirds which gives a balance to the image.
The pic was taken from the headland beside Silver Sands at Aberdour, so not far from where you thought. I live in Dunfermline (Townhill), much has remained the same over the years but there is less green and more houses around it!
Peter.

Cheers Andy, hope it doesn't make your assistant so homesick for Glenrothes they decide to move back up! Glenrothes/Surrey - lets see, perhaps no contest really!
Its a pity so many of these old first world war piers are now so degraded, they have lots of character.
Only someone who's been in Fife would know to sign off like that!
Peter.
