Portland Head Lighthouse 2

This is a shot I took of Portland Head Lighthouse in Portland Maine. I plan on going back this simmer and would like any comments and suggestions on what I can do differently for when I go back. Thanks Art

Hi art,
this image has good exposure values and focus is also good. What lets this down for me is the busy foreground. I find that the eye is being distracted by all of the pepples and rocks and is therefore not naturally being taken to the main focal point (the lighthouse).
I would crop at the base of the second large rock and reduce the sealine to square it off and make the focal point more accessable to the eye.

This is a beautiful scene and you have captured it exposre/focus etc spot on, but have to agree with Phil regarding the crop, Phils version really brings the lighthouse forward as the main subject in the frame.
None the less a great picture and i can understand why you want to return.

Thanks Phil and Bev, I have to agree now that I look at the cropped version. That's what makes this such a great site. I have been learning alot. Hope to get back this summer to get shots at different tides. Art
