had a quick trip to the local bird of prey sanctuary. didnt come home with many decent shots, but was pleased with this as I caught her chatting away to me. any tips for making the background less bleurgh would be appreciated!!

Hi Lisa just done a QUICK edit, cropped so owl more central, copied the layer and blurred the background (Gaussian blur) put a lyer mask over that and erased the bits i wanted to keep. Then applied a slight sharpen to the owl,

Difficult to make any big changes as you are stuck with the background, as you said if you had a bigger zoom you could have zoomed most of the background out with a tighter shot.

These are my favourite Owls, and you have caught him well Lisa, although i think the jessie rope could be cloned out as it immediately draws the eyes to it.

Hi, love the expression on old hedwig here - these are beautiful creatures - I would make this a portrait shot cutting out the distracting stuff at the bottom. Then use the burn tool on 100% shadows to darken the background - great shot!
