Lee Abbey Devon
Photographers Comments
Took this last year on a week away at the Abbey. It was taken with my compact that i had at the time. I have a few various shots from around this angle but could not make up my mind as to which worked best so would be grateful for any and all comments. I did think about cropping but could not decide whether to or not either lol. Thanks, Loopy.

You have very good colors and details. The composition is very nice, but some might say to crop or clone the fence post out, to me that would be a matter of chose. The only thing I see is the buildings seem to be leaning to the right in the photo just a little .

Hi Lorraine, I agree with Ken.....stunning colours etc. The fence post bottom right does distract my eye I would try and crop in to lose that .Also a little straightening would help too. I think you could end up with a pic worthy of a post card of the Abbey......Good one

Hi Lorraine, you have got some lovely colours in this image, but as mentioned by others I found that post very distracting, so as you had 'edit my image' I thought that I would have a play. Instead of cloning out that post I though that a more letterbox crop would work better taking out some of the sky but leaving those two nice big clouds. I also slightly distorted the image to get that castle type building on the right upright as it was leaning. Whether this is a improvement only you can tell

Thank you everyone, glad you like the overall shot. I wasn't sure about the post and bush in the FG, so appreciate all comments on that, and pleased you've picked me up on straightening the buildings. Have to pay more attention to that as i don't always notice lol. A great learning experience and plenty to hang on to.
Barry, thank you for taking the time to edit, like i say, i wasn't sure about cropping, but it does work much better. Big hugs to ya hun
May even e-mail it to the people at the Abbey as I had such a great time and would love to share it with them

Hi Lou,
hope you don't mind but had a go at this one myself....
Cropped/straightened/slight S curve/boosted hue-sat a bit and cloned out bush bottom left (left over from crop)......

Hi Steve,
I don't mind in the slightest, thank you for taking the time to have a go at it for me, it's great to be able to see how others would handle the image, sometimes we can get stuck with how we workflow shots so seeing others ideas/modifications is always a pleaseure, helps us grow.
Only just recently learned the whole cloning tool thingy, so still getting to grips with making it work positively in some shots, so that too is a great teaching aid to see it done.
Thanks again, big hugs, Loopy

Don't know if you use it but the patch tool is really useful too if theres not to much detail to get rid of...
I also sometimes also use it to get rid of most of an area then clone over the top of it from different points all around the selection....
