Celery Chameleon
Photographers Comments
Another Chameleon shot but taken this morning, its alway exciting to find them in the garden as they are becoming quite rare!
I would love to have removed some of the shadow off its body, but I couldnt achieve that, so in the end all I did was clone a little bit of distraction from the background and use the unsharp mask in PS. I see that one of the leaves is blown out a bit....the shot was taken in full sun!

Aside from the things you've already pointed out Di I really like your chameleon. Nice detail and lovely colours

Good colours and detail in the Chameleon, agree that you have criticised yourself pretty well on your own. You might be able to fix the burned out areas in PS using layers ... though having just had a look, unfortunately some areas really have all the detail gone even if you darken it all down. However it would be quite simple to clone these areas back in in an under layer, and then use a soft low opacity brush to erase the top layer over them and let some detail and colour show through.
... just an idea.

Hi Diane .. I was thinking about that since I first seen this earlier today if there was not some way to help the blown out parts .. Excellent photo of the Chameleon great detail ... nice and clear and sharp.... Glad that Miles has made some suggestions regarding to do a bit of a repair to the photo ...
Cheers
Else

I'm learning here too....great tips Miles...opening up a whole new world of thought for me...thanks!
Usually, lizard type things creep me but I do find chameleons quite endearing. She's quite a lady. for full light, you got amazing details. Her eyelids look like mine. Wonder how it would look if you lasso off the top of the celery stick and replaced it with background color?

Hi Else...I see you are still incognito lol. Thanks for popping in, it seems that Mile's has got the cog's working in our brains...Fay's included. Am now taking on board lassoing the celery stick .....good idea Fay!
Thanks Bev.....I seem to spend hours watching them.......I managed to capture one with it's tongue sort of out....but in my excitement I got camera shake so it's quite blurry, I wish they'd sit lower down so I could sit with a tripod.
