Excellent colour, lighting etc. nicely framed and good use of DOF to isolate the subject. Maybe the only niggle would be the light object below the tail feathers.

I kind of hummed and hah'd about that, and it would be easy to remove it, but I decided to leave it in. Maybe in the "official" version I'll remove it. (The object is actually a stone, as the bird is sat on the root of a fallen tree.)

Hi Miles, What a magnificent looking owl .. I think I would be tempted to remove the rock . clone it out .. whatever .. it does seem to take your eye away from the owl.

Apart from one I have seen in mid flight and wild..this is the best barn owl shot I have seen. Stunning image Miles. Clarity and detail are excellent. Really good work as usual.

Very beautiful shot Miles, i love the position and detail in his feathers and the moss on the tree stump. I agree with the stone being a slight distraction tho. Wonderful capture of nature at it's finest.
